100 diets later

Decisions, decisions… I have tried so many things in the past that I am not sure anything new exists out there. I know what is right and what is not, but none of the things I tried so far worked long term.

I tried Weight Watchers.

I found that on busy days I would not get to log the points until the evening. By that stage I would forget the size of the portions and the snacks I had. No matter how hard I tried, the pattern was always the same. I would start off ok and eventually would always slip into the comfort of my normal eating. I was always too busy, too tired, too something else.

I tried MyFitnessPal.

I love the app and the fact it has calorie information for every food under the sun. Unfortunately the same problem as with weightwatchers applies. I am just not organised enough to log in every time I have a snack. I also cook most of our evening meals and I find it difficult to work out the calories for cooked meals.

I tried healthy eating.

I cut out sugar, white flour, white rice, potatoes, fatty meat. My meals were mostly veg, lean meat, poultry, dried fruit and nuts for snacks. I felt amazing, no carb crashes in the afternoon, plenty of energy and a decent weight loss of 5lbs in 8 weeks. The downside is that healthy eating requires a lot of planning and preparation. It’s not always easy to find healthy meal options when you are out and eating in relies on cooking. I really would like to go back to this way of eating when my life is a bit less hectic. For now though, I need a plan that would be easier to follow and will free up some evening time.

So I have ordered 1 month of Jane Plan.

It’s similar to Diet Chef in what it provides, but the meals look healthier and more like the kind of food that I would cook. You get a choice of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and need to add your own fruit and veg. My hope is that by knowing that I can only eat meals from the Jan Plan box I can “programme” my brain not to deviate and look for other options.

I ordered a 28 day supply, but will split it with my Mum, who will try it for 7 days. She has been desperate to shift about 5-7lbs, and I need to lose about 3st. It will be interesting to see if it works for both of us.

The box is arriving on Wednesday and I can’t wait to start!

(quietly praying I have not just wasted £245 on dogs dinners J)
